Understanding Your Total Internet Portfolio

When we speak to clients and prospective clients about web development we don't just focus on their websites.  We take a more complete look at their total internet portfolio.  Just as a financial advisor would not try to help a person plan to retire with out having a complete set of details and goals defined an effective web presence requires the same type of planning.

Additionally your financial advisor doesn't just look at your 401K to plan on reaching your goals.  He looks at your current income, your projected future income, your savings, tax deferred annuities, Certificates of Deposit, Tax Strategies, the current inflation rate, what type of standard of living you wish to retire on and so much more.  At least if he is earning his money he considers all these factors and more.

When we look at your internet portfolio we look at an equally complex set of factors.  These include...............

  • Your Domain Name - Is it right for your business?  Do you have one?  Are you promoting it with all your marketing collateral?  Is it easy to remember?
  • How are you accessing the internet? - This can be more important then you may realize.  Are you at risk for virus attacks or over run with spam?  Is your internet provider allowing you to make full use of your client data base?  While we are on the subject do you have a client data base?

  • Your email address - Does it use your domain name?   Do you have an effective email signature to make the most of your email address?  How do you access your email?
  • Your Client Base- Who are your clients and target clients?  How do you currently gain customers?  Can you provide something on your website to attract them? (existing or new)  Where can or do your serve clients?  Locally?  Nationally?  Internationally?
  • Your web based advertising - What advertising if any are you using or do you plan to use?  What steps have you taken to get content listings on the free search engines? (key words, meta tags and content)  What type of budget do you have for online advertising?  Is online advertising even the best way for your particular business to leverage a website?
  • Your Toll Free Number-  Do you have a toll free number?  If so are you paying to much for it?  Can you change where it rings to based on where the caller is calling from?  Does it track your advertising for you?  Does it build a client data base for you?  Again do you even have a client data base?
  • Your off line advertising - This is the most often over looked area by most design companies and it is one of the most important.  What advertising are you doing offline now?  How can your website best fit into that advertising?  Will a properly designed website open up new possibilities for you?
  • Your sales force- How many sales people do you have?  Are they using email and doing so in a way to promote your company?  Are they local or remote?  Can you make materials and resources available to them on your site that will make them more effective?

These are only a sample of the areas you should be considering as you plan your web development.  We are experts at working with you to make sure your total internet portfolio and your total technology portfolio all work together to provide you the most in return for your investment.  Contact Us today to learn how we can help you grow your business.  Or just give us a call toll free at 866-994-1212 we will be glad to help.
